EETT - Enhancing Education Through Technology
 |
|
Updated: May 24, 2006
TechSETS is a partner in providing resources and support for EETT.
The California Department of Education (CDE) web site is the official source of information for EETT: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/et/ft/eett.asp
EETT provides funding for school technology from the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, which is used in classrooms to improve student academic achievement. Funds are distributed through formula and competitive grants.
|
Formula Grants
In 2005-06, the CDE distributed approximately $31 million to local educational agencies (LEAs) and eligible local partnerships, in formula-funded grants through Title II, Part D, EETT. The allocations are based on the LEA’s (or partner’s) proportionate share of Title I funding.
The federal allocation for EETT funding has been significantly decreased for 2006-07. The CDE is anticipating continuation of the program, but at a much reduced funding level for eligible districts. Please check the CDE web site for the latest updates and information.
To be eligible for EETT formula funds, a district must have a current, state-approved technology plan. It must also serve Title I students. There are additional assurances that need to be met during the funding year, including the completion of the annual online School Technology Survey, plus having a designated number of teachers complete the EdTechProfile technology skills self-assessment.
Competitive Grants
Funds for this grant are to be used to assist eligible districts to utilize technology to enhance teaching and learning.
The California Department of Education recently announced the recipients of the Round 4 EETT competitive grants. Approximately $26 million was available in 2005-06. The winning districts and total allocations will be posted on the CDE web site.
The amount of funding available for Round 5 competitive grants has been significantly reduced. The California Department of Education expects to announce the status of Round 5 funding by July 2006. Please check the CDE web site for the latest updates and information.
